Which display for a thermostat


i young newcomer arduino world. want realize thermostat (when possible) using touch screen display (i not want hardware pushbuttons) of suitable size (not less 7 x 5 cm so  temperatures can read distance) connect arduino board. far have read arduino board, have experience of electronic hardware , have been coding visual basic , flash.
i have no experience displays, decided post forum receive suggestion me either renounce project :smiley-confuse: , or shorten project time :) . present questions, connected display operation,  following ones:
-does exist display allowing writing characters of different size?
-is possible on display place in various locations special icons, arrows, symbols etc, is, little images?
-will such images react touching according program?
-will possible load different pages?
-does arduino provide time , days of week?

not sure if can code real projects because visual basic , actionscripts different arduino languge. more c languge. im afraid might have learn bit more if total newbie.

yes, yes , , yes choose right libaries , should good.


-does arduino provide time , days of week?
not really, if gonna long times should use real time clock module/ic. google it.
