how know use opening files?

e.g gedit text files, others like:

.png
.jpg
.doc

few how know use?

pngs , jpgs (by default) open viewing in eye of gnome (command "eog") or gpicview (command "gpicview") - @ least aiui.

.doc's can opened openoffice ("openoffice.org" or "soffice-writer") or, if install it, 1 of other office programs available ubuntu, abiword.

other programs and/or file types, have @ https://help.ubuntu.com/9.10/switchi...uivalents.html

missing filename after '-o'
