hi i'm wondering how install vlc - 1.0.3-1ubuntu2 it's in tar.gz , have no idea how compile. please i'm desperate! reason cario dock works version of vlc. appreciated! im on karmic i386 architecture. link https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vlc/1.0.3-1ubuntu2! in advance!

extract file separate folder.
open terminal , move in folder using cd commands.
type ./configure
make
make install or sudo make install (depends on ur login account)
done , software gets installed
