Photoshop CS4 Extended Graphics Error

hello

i upgraded cs4 master collection in hopes of using web design job hired for. whenever go photoshop cs4 extended , try "free transform" (an image, shape, etc) , either canvas goes black , doesn't respond awhile, or has these purple shapes show on black background , pixelated. apologize if not describing well. can see talking here on link took screenshot , posted it.

exact version of os?

how total installed ram? how v-ram on video card?

how available disk space? have dedicated scratch disk?
