Thread: Maintiaining a Library of MP3 CDs
i work @ local bar , maintain book of mp3 cds nights when i'm bored, don't have professional dj booked, , want cool playing sliders , mixing songs together.
on windows side of things, have pretty convoluted tool chain maintaining said book. maintain playlists , burn cds in itunes. itunes makes sure mp3 files renamed listed in order on playlist. (this important, you'll see later.) export list , csv file. have excel 2007 workbook macro's made dumps csv files in same directory spread sheets, deletes several useless columns, converts time total seconds excel's "fraction of day" weirdness, , adds , fills column numbered position in playlist. lack of anyway itunes print playlist numbers along left hand side made me go such lengths.
numbers make job easier because can grab cd, slip our workstation, , punch in number , track want.
so, have context, need direction on gathering suite of tools on ubuntu maintain this. emulate whole process windows, seems rhythmbox doesn't burn cds , i'm bit clueless go next. also, don't think openoffice excel macros. i've had massive issues excel macros in oo before.
these things absolutely need:
- to able burn cd according playlist if run ls on cd, file listing returned in same order playlist
- to produce track listing playlist or set of mp3's on cd. (either fine. can burn first produce listing or produce listing burn cd.) track listing should numbered, list pertinent information such title, artist, album, length of track. can format csv allows me import spreadsheet formatting , printing.
if there's program out there sort of thing, awesome. if not, i'm not afraid of bit of scripting , fidgeting things done. i'm totally new bash scripting though.
also, i've vague feeling there command-line utilities may let me extract information mp3 headers. may able produce cd, , run script that'll loop through files appending each file's info along counter variable csv file later use. *shrug*
