Joomla 1.5 doesn't detect MySQL - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

hi all,

i trying install joomla 1.5 on windows xp laptop testing purposes. on pre-installation check screen, indicates not have mysql installed , running. not case. have installed mysql 5.045 , i've triple-checked service running still not able detect mysql.

what doing wrong or have not done?
