Thread: Trashed /lib/modules/`uname -r` while building v4l-dvb
i'm not complaining really, learned lot kernel building environment doing this, believe i'm going have reload around problem.
trying build v4l-dvb driver package latest mercurial v4l-dvb repository. i'm running mythbuntu 9.10.
ended funny symbol reference errors saa7134.ko referred symbols in ir-common.ko, though these symbols seemed in (and modules loaded), errors non-agreement on symbols, think there must've been kind of version system symbols:
[ 221.185767] ir_common: disagrees version of symbol module_layout
while working on problem, foolishly trashed complete /lib/modules/`uname -r`, , deleted it. couldn't reboot in condition, went recovery mode live cd, , copied same corresponding modules system running identical release (both running 32-bit kernels.)
figured work, surprise, received invalid module format error:
fatal: error inserting saa7134 (/lib/modules/2.6.31-16-generic-pae/kernel/drivers/media/video/saa7134/saa7134.ko): invalid module format
now, i'm pretty i'm going rebuild machine. i'm going lose recorded material , configuration, i've learned lot of lessons.
things helpful know are:
how recover modules, , possible backup/restore them?
how go backing mythtv environment?
missing build procedure v4l-dvb modules don't work?
thanks!
