HW acclerated playback (rendering) on xwindows like chromium - Raspberry Pi Forums

as far know, opengl es can not integrated xwindows. every app uses hw accelerated playback, overlays on screen. quite surprised chromium browser able play video hw accleration without overlaying.
can explain how possible?

opengl (including es) 3d (and 2d) graphics hardware acceleration , has nothing video decoding/encoding.
there alpha opengl driver, grabs tho whole gpu , keeps other gpu related stuff working, including video decoding (omxplayer), example.
