Thread: Does not let me log in after running Updates

i installed 9.1 (desktop) , today ran updates. installed fine ... got prompted restart. system restarted did not auto-login (thats how had setup).

appears attempt auto login fails , prompts me login. (which fails). login credentials correct because if enter invalid password states "authentication failed" not correct password. returns login after couple of screen flashes .... i'm locked out without way in!!!

how resolve w/o reinstalling o/s?

help!

i having same problem.

fresh install of 9.10 works fine without problems.

install 150+ updates , restart, everytime log in, keep getting returned login screen, don't authentication failure unless enter wrong details, details i'm entering correct.

first install of 9.10 used encrypted home directory option, , @ first thought problem, reinstalled using non-encrypted home directory option , still can't login after updates.

have done memtest , reformatted , checked hard disk, still no luck.

appreciated.

have re-installed few times using different login details still can'

missing filename after '-o'
