First time Pi3 user - feels cheated - Raspberry Pi Forums

hello there,

firstly, sorry if title seems bit harsh, that's how feel.

have been looking device 2 simple things.

1) watch youtube videos on tv @ 1080p
2) watch vm tv anywhere on tv @ 1080p via broswer

can of course either gaming pc, or old laptop found neither solution great. (laptop old , power hungry, gaming pc complete overkill , noisy living room), looked various wd, tv, roku type devices, , thought had hit gold...the raspberry pi3.
every review read told of cheap, low wattage, powerful box wanted, , more, bite bullet.
ordered £60ish starter kit ( http://cpc.farnell.com/ucreate/rpi3-mod ... dp/sc14160 ) , teenage eagerly waiting delivery next day.

3 weeks ago.
went perfectly, no card issues, think updated, , there in raspbian.
found "web" icon, , straight bbc.co.uk
seemed quite sluggish, not expected, tried various sites 10 mins, decided dig out cat6 cable, perhaps didnt bt hh6...with cat6 cable better, not speedy thing lead believe.

went youtube, , disaster, play in auto quality, if selected above 480p, first took ages start, , ran juddering second or 2 stopped, , juddered second or 2, stopped repeat.

have spent last 2 weeks going through pretty every os can find it, copying 1080p clip onto usb stick, , playing direct (much better still jerky , unwatchable me)

leads title.
have been ripped off? faulty - i'm out of 7 day return period, within manufacturers 12 months, or there crazy thing have perform simple task?

maybe there checkbox video hardware acceleration have missed?
if out there can me, greatful.

apologies if posted in wrong place, there isn't simple place on website post complaint.

i understand need vent on occasion, setup pi3 raspbian-stretch 2017-09-07 , after configuration , doing sudo apt-get update ; apt-get dist-upgrade , reboot, went youtube after remembering seeing message yesterday. don't watch other tutorials youtube on pi , pause these wouldn't sensitive playback "glitches".

i'm running on wifi (sub optimal, there known issues pi3 built-in wifi being worked on) , have watched couple of vevo music videos in 1080p running full screen , didn't see issues. worked fine in browser window.

there lot of potential issues between server , computer when comes streaming video. days netflix on our roku don't work worth crap, fine, or @ least enough wife doesn't come running me "fix it" :)

think i've heard said "hardware acceleration" of video playback have enable "camera" in configuration , bump gpu memory 128mb if don't have camera module attached. pi3 has camera module part of initial configuration.

First use of Arduino Uno : avrdude error on Blink uploading

hi all, i bought arduino (or should genuino) starter kit. first test , failing. i have follow religiously first pages , when trying upload blink sketch, uploading fails avrdude error : avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer not responding. as suggested in other posts, have tried 1) switch latest hourly build of arduino ide 2) switch previous stable version of arduino ide (1.6.09) 3) change usb cable 1 know working fine 4) make same steps on computer (unfortunatelly, of them macos running on macos 10.11.6, not interesting test) 5) press reset before upload, interesting thing : tx led never flashes the full log attached. idea of why happening ? to save people having download log, it's sync error, resp=0x00 every time: code: [select] avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer not responding avrdude: stk500_getsync() attempt 1 of 10: not in sync: resp=0x00 avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer not responding and he's running 1.6.11 hourly avrdude 6.0.1. ...
