Advice to job applicants

over past few days i've received dozens of e-mail replies job posting image prep technician. can divide responses 3 groups. 1. 95% unsuitable , deleted immediately. 2. 1% show understand need , let me see images appropriate. 3. 4% people skilled, , of them might candidates don't have time slog through presentations.

this message people may in 4%. advice nothing more opinions, not rules. can take or leave it, there's no sense in arguing me if happen guy doing hiring.

1. forget word documents. imaging professional, use pdf. short cover message within e-mail document fine, emphasize short. don't need life story, i'm more interested in experience , skills, detail in resume , links.

2. keep resume simple, both in content , design. i'm not looking designer, imaging professional should able recognize difference between document looks , communicates well, , 1 doesn't.

3. give me links work. top competition , better or won't have chance of being considered.

4. make sure links want see. example, me looking high-end photo tech, not web guy or vector illustrator. if you're smart show me high res sections of difficult-to-solve problems.

5. read job post carefully. read again, , consider strategy answer effectively. may have adjust resume and, especially, may want upload appropriate imagery. i'm not re-posting here, ad put on-line described skill sets needed, , many of responses gave me information in not interested.

i understand every job gets 95% have discarded obvious reasons, it's 4% frustrating deal with. there must 1% of candidates within 4%, losing out due poor presentation.

>1. forget word documents. imaging professional, use pdf.

this , you. if hr department asks word file , give them pdf, have shown them idiot can't follow direction. bad may word resumes standard.
