Your techiques for removing specular from photos
i'm curious hear techniques other people use in case:
not having scanner, photographed old photos. unfortunately, of them have 'spray' of white specular reflections/hightlights light source in room (where photographed them) hitting texture of photograph. result, there's areas have ends looking snow/dust scattered on photo.
for dark areas, use burn tool set highlights. seems work fine (since there's such strong difference between dark photo areas vs bright specular dots.
but, areas faces (midtones) doesn't work... i'm curious methods guys use.
chances are, i'm going re-photograph them... it's exercise in photo restoration, , fun(?) challenge.

the best 'exercise in photo restoration' capture image in best possible manner. scan these. cheap consumer scanner can better job shooting highest end camera. 'photo restoration' meant restore imperfections of photo itself. not wasted on correcting own imperfections caused during capture.
if obligated shoot these instead of scanning (maybe can't break them frames), research shooting light stand, polarized lights, polarized filters, etc.
