Blending Modes

hi.
i seem have problem saturation blending mode on ps cs3
i have image 2 layers. layer 1 @ bottom photo, layer 2 on top full color 100% saturation (ex. rgb 255,0,0)
when selecting blending mode saturation colors of layer 1 should boost 100% saturation.
in reality i've noticed not happen pixels. many pixels still retain original saturation.
i've tried flattening image ths doesn't help.

anybody can me?

i have same question posed willy.

in book after book , tutorial after tutorial, resultant saturation advertised same top layer saturation @ same pixel site. not consistently so.

how should saturation mode action re-stated conform observed results in cases?
