this little info ppl want know before download if work on live cd.. wasted lots of time trying find out if pc run karmic. right im on karmic live cd.. info live cd , different once real install done.. here things found far.. run 9.04 , can except games under 9.04 temps hot.. karmic has same issue.. appears not have changed.. use huwaie e160 gsm usb modem.. found had boot live cd in usb port work.. took while figuere out why didnt work.. first.. cant have 1.1 usb hubs on it.. or not work.. connected connected not on internet.. had unplug hub.. 2nd whatever defaults gsm save them in network configuration , save , exit.. after open , edit connections.. suit network.. not use hub disconnect network.. using gkrellm , dmesg found cpu 10c hotter reported gkrellm.. under dmesg seen warning wasnt being read correctly.i checked /proc/acpi/processor , looked @ temp 10c higher reported. 9.10 has lack of thermal triggers , , shows critical 105c. no change there. include dmesg both 9.04 , 9.10 can see.. remember alot of dmesg has usb hub seems conflict usb gsm. cant try network or wireless not use them here read out glx ati 1250 video chip

after getting little things working seems quite able.. fan still states off under/ acpi/thermal , pfa1 still reports off.. processors state 8 throttle states.. 9.04 says none after custom dsdt.. acpi seems work. can adjust screen brightness , soft touch buttons atleast work mute. didnt try hibernate or suspend dont know if supported in live cd.. temps thing bothering me.. isnt reading temps right.. , 9.04 atleast read temps correctly.. , 8.04 wouldnt install.. hangs.. 8.11 seems install , run cooler.. had 9.04 . hate uninstall , reinstall older software might have other problems didnt see in live cd.. havent decided try 9.10 yet.. bios bug still reported under 9.11 .. 1 last thing.. tried dsdt edit , found 0 erros 0 warnings , 15 optimizations.. dsdt data isnt bad atleast ( a305d-s6848).. under 9.04 seen no improvements running custom dsdt.. told 9.10 doesnt use custom dsdt cant make comparison. 1 last comment.. did try newest open suse.. fails @ hal. way kde hit ctrl+c no keyboard or mouse frozen welcome screen.. thats included people thats looking right distro of linux run on pc.. im noob linux played long time.. gave on windows.. if didnt right can @ , gain insight , else.. able provide info , no answers.. atleast try people..
so installed using 9.10 alternate disk....
well, disk asks u if u want use internet chose no... in philippines internet not good.. when using gsm usb modem..
well, install disk kernel , x configured.. still irritates me.. after installing , rebooting.. looked in update manager , said needed partial upgrade.. , partial 700 + meg.. irritated me.. under docs says can upgrade using alternate disk without internet.. true not many of core components not installed using alternate disk.. after 15 hrs of downloading , im not kidding.. , luckily completed.. never seen internet run longer 3 before carrier boots you..
lets specifics.. after initial install.. looked decent
video works good. sound works ,but kk doesnt allow set sound events , read how , can download themes if can find them. major problem usb.. usb ports conflicted each other.. if had mouse hooked no gsm modem.
took me while figure out why internet connected no internet.. or upgrade manager.. after partial upgrade.. problems reporting in dmesg error attum 141 not reporting temps correctly.. appears running cooler.. case isnt warm cant sure yet.. if running cpu on demand when cpu switches next level sounds in app disapear , when u leave app must use system monitor turn off app.. set processor b4 running app.. gsm modem seems little confused.. takes 3 times hook internet , page.. connected each time no data transfer.. 1 last problem have noticed old grub doesnt 9.10.. each time seems have search way boot.. takes 7 seconds.. after good... if update did remove battery b4 running upgrade.. bc after upgrade reason when reboot show bios page , next page _ , stop there.. remove battery , lets memory go b4 next boot.. boot grub.. right runnning 9.10 kk kernel 2.6.31.17
problems kk fix jj kernel.. kernel fixes 690 south bridge issue sata.. fixes sd sr in dmesg , cpu throttling being recognized. temp lower.. cpu temps sensors cant considered accurate according dmesg.. in kk seems little better on opengl test done.. smoother, higher details , maybe little better frame rates too.. subjective have no accurate way prove this..
if have waited , have toshiba a305d-s6848 , want report before going kk.. give try.. far me jj seems if not better.. acpi still isnt showing fan on until suspend done.. seems has same version of acpi.. maybe bit better.. anyways have fun...
