Merge 2d to 3d Layer issues
hello,
i'm trying merge text 2d layer down 3d layer.
when do, text becomes color of diffuse layers color.
the text becomes distorted , ugly.
i have duplicated same effect in simplest form.
using donut / sphere / cone / 3d object new shape layer.
i've tried .ai .psd objects seem merge color of selected diffuse color material being merged into.
i've tried bump setting see if stamp object shape.
all want end particular project similar demo found http://tv.adobe.com/#vi+f1555v1708 can slap 'decal' onto 3d object , animate object.
foot note may help. when trying paint directly on 3d objects, selected color diffused match material color.
for example: material has self-illumination of red , diffuse of light gray. brush set black. painted color stroke comes out red.
i wanna video demo...???????????
thank you.
brian

self-illumination far outweighs diffuse shading in intensity, behavior qualifies normal. perhaps using blending modes layers? if set against grey, several of them have no result @ all, medium grey neutral , in channels has no influence on shading. , distortions: check uv layout of mesh! projection types distorted since follow flow of geometry. have used that.
