Thread: x freezing suddenly

i've been running ubuntu 9.10 without issue since release, until yesterday froze on me, , today froze twice already. each time, able move mouse little while, clicking caused garbage appear on screen, , mouse stop responding. enabled ctrl+alt+backspace after first time , worked, i'd figure out what's causing this. can point me in right direction, don't know how reproduce there maybe log file identify what's causing x freeze? thanks.

missing filename after '-o'
