How to create a saturation gradient

say want create gradient affects saturation, how do that? example: have image want hint @ perspective in. want objects farther in space (top) less saturated , closer foreground (bottom) more saturated. i'm assuming can adjustment layer , i've tried messing around it, seems have set colors create gradient don't want affect native colors @ all, want change saturation. i'm not talking going b&w color. want able set particular level of desaturation grading level of saturation 100%.

you'll use black-to-white gradient _mask_ adjustment layer.
experiment start & end gradient until you're satisfied.
of course, set saturation minus value.
