Freezing

my mac has started freezing when clicking 'open' button in photoshop extended. can select new or recent open command problem is. haven't knowingly altered or added new items , working fine until recently. ideas appreciated.

if whole machine freezes, you've got hardware problems.

if photoshop freezes , have force quit application, else may going on.
