Question Regarding Multiple Menus - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

i joomla noob , trying wrap head around menuing issues.

on main page, have main_menu horizontally along top.  however, when user goes section of website, want add second vertical menu on right hand side menu section.  currently, way have been able figure out how create "copies" of joomla template has slight code variations allow placement of second menu module on page.  however, appears rather inefficient way deal menus if wanted change on element of template need multiple times.

is there way have module not appear on main page, appear once user goes area without having use multiple templates?

if go module- site modules , module or menu module want work with, on right hand side see menu links can connect , have module appear when visitor goes link.
