Thread: F1 key stuck - remapping the boot?

hi everyone,
3rd day trying ubuntu 9.10 installation work on eee pc 901 netbook. please forgive me beginner questions.
problem following: due crappy quality of keyboard in 901(i read more people having issue) f1 key stuck, acts if being pressed time, in windows open million of windows. removed key , tried play whats under it, no sucess. found software solution windows, have 1 linux.
xmodmap -e 'keycode 67='
works, however. after loading x thingie(or whatever called, graphical user interface). problem when linux trying load, f1 pressed time, , aborts i-guess-important commands or processes. if rebooting computer, touchpad not work(and other things). solution found clicking on 1 of other keys, like, or b. way loaded correctly , can work it.
wondering if there way "really" fix it. mean, there must file used loading linux , components, , if enter remapping command in beginning of file, not have "a trick".
oh, important mention, if clicking ctrl + c while linux loading, , typing xmodmap command, give me error:
xmodmap: unable open display ''

there must way disable f1 key...

hope can me , alot in advance!

hi.

key still being "pressed" time?

if so:

i'd physically take netbook apart, far need keyboard. else semi-permanent solution @ best.

out of curiosity, how did in windows?

greetings
/moddie
