Bird RF 4421 Power meter interfacing with Arduino?

hi everyone.
my project finding way arduino uno communicate , interface

bird rf 4421 power meter.

however, after reading manual , data sheet of power meter, still couldn't figure out how connect pins on of power meter arduino uno board. i'm beginner , not understand terms , jargon inside user manual.

i'm familiar connecting motors, voltage meters etc arduino since have basic voltage reading arduino can recognize.

however, power meter has multiple pins connect , i'm not sure how obtain values power meter through arduino. in short, need obtain power reading measurements power meter through arduino. note not need control power meter in way, have power readings.

any appreciated. hope post not seem trivial or dumb

the meter has standard 25 pin d type rs232 output, arduino requires use of rs232 ttl level adapter, this one , likely, 25 pin 9 pin adapter cable.

the communications protocol described in manual , not simple. before attempting write arduino program implement it, should experiment using terminal program , pc, until understand how supposed work.
