Thread: I have lost track of a router on my home network

i have 2 wireless routers , 1 setup wireless access point, dhcp turned off. cant see in main routers dhcp client table.

should pingable??
ran little batch file ping thru adresses on network , did not come up, main router , pc , network printer , 2 laptops.

happened it?
can use connect wirelessly or if plug in desktop internet works.

confused on ping issue.

anyway here output nmap, laptops disconnected
scott@scott-desktop:~$ nmap -sp 192.168.1.1-254

starting nmap 5.00 ( http://nmap.org ) @ 2009-12-16 14:09 est
host 192.168.1.1 (0.00089s latency).
host 192.168.1.100 (0.00022s latency).
host 192.168.1.104 (0.0063s latency).
nmap done: 254 ip addresses (3 hosts up) scanned in 45.42 seconds

i figured out few things. went ahead , reset second wireless router. lan set start @ 10.0.0.1, pc plugged in has manually set 10.0.0.2 255.255.255.0 , can log router.
enabling remote access (192.168.1.102:8080) works if plug first routers lan wan of router 2. can internet, if dhcp enabled lans on separate network addresses.
so, turn of dhcp, plug lan ports , router access point whatever wireless security had when set up.

administer router pain since have move cables or set ethernet manual. once setup not looked @ again awhile, hence note here jog memory.

perhaps if had set lan 192.168.1.115 etc... instead of 10.0.0.1 default, work.
seem recall trying , gave warning saying in use other router.

came across howto
http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/965

looks need restrict ip assignment range of primary router , can assign ip on secondary router 1 matches network
