Problem with Black converting to CMYK when PDF to Photoshop

just wondering if knows how stop 100% black text changing cmyk text when converting pdf tiff? receive pdf files have font issues (or other problem) , have imported them photoshop change them tiff. works 98% or time lately, i've been having issues blacks. change cmyk instead of remaining 100% black , can cause problems when printed. if know why or of way this, please let me know.

same always: use profile maps 100% black (rgb, lab, whatever) 100% black ink, or separate photos , text differently.

photoshop's default profiles setup photographs (where rich black desirable), not line art , text (where may or may not want rich black).
