How to save data, appearing in Arduino serial monitor, to a physical file on MAC

hi,
i relatively new arduino programming , have question saving data, appearing in arduino serial monitor, file on mac hard disk. have made programming, output presented on monitor. would, however, data saved file, in cases analysed in e.g. excel.
if can me advice, please know not familiar expressions "/dev/tty........", advice needed such details, well.    :)
being "relatively new" arduino programming may understatement, there obstacles need overcome, in order advance in respect.

if you're happy start application , let run use serial monitor:

there terminal programs can save received data file; not familiar mac perspective. there might installed, else looks minicom available mac , can trick.

if needs run 24/7 trickier; happily write application (if mac user) there might other ways it.

missing filename after '-o'
