Thread: Vikings vs. ...who?

i'm playing around idea game. know want story resemble ancient epic/legend/myth. villains of game vikings. however, don't know guys should be. @ first, thought of anglo saxons. however, aren't underdog enough me. plus, don't have iconic them.

so, should fight vikings? i'm not looking historical accuracy here, @ same time don't want protagonists ridiculous. means aliens, zombies, sheep, , cthulhu out.

please, suggest away!

in norse mythology there 'nine worlds' (níu heimar), many scholars summarize follows:
asgard, world of Æsir (east court).
vanaheimr, world of vanir.
midgard, world of humans (middle court).
muspellheim, world of primordial element of fire (black smiths (muorsh eiron) home).
niflheim, world of primordial element of ice
svartálfaheim, world of svartálfar (black elves) (possibly surt).
Álfheimr, world of Álfar (elves).
hel, underground world of dead (a place in jerusalem).
jötunheimr, world of jötnar (jutes).
note boundaries between niflheim, jötunheimr, hel, niðavellir, svartálfaheimr, , several other significant places Útgarðar (outer (far) court) remain uncertain.
each world had significant places within. valhalla odin's hall located in asgaard. home of einherjar, souls of greatest warriors. these warriors selected valkyries, odin's mounted female messengers. einherjar defend gods during ragnarok. niflhel hellish place in hel, oathbreakers , other criminals suffer torments.
these worlds connected yggdrasil, world tree, giant tree asgard @ top. chewing @ roots in niflheim nidhogg, ferocious serpent or dragon. asgard can reached bifrost, rainbow bridge guarded heimdall, god can see , hear thousand miles.
