Thread: Another "Naive" Antivirus thread

howdy, i'm looking opinions on best antivirus software linux is(or unix systems in general). did search topic , of posts not helpful. i'm information assurance major , i'm aware of current state of malware , linux, please don't tell me not necessary or turn silly debate. lot of "filesharing" , i'm networked windows clients (which may or may not sharing files with), have use this. i'm gana spending more time messing firewalls , such(which i'll have bunch of people tell me should focus on in thread..) once done finals, , in classes next semester.

these things i'm looking for:
-virus detection rate. if can tell me experience av software going catch viruses um, 'stuff' i'm downloading, extremely helpful.
-functionality , options. ability centrally manage things on network pretty cool, though it's not necessary i'll using on 1 or 2 machines. ran panda, sounds have decent central management functions.
-if know of @ searches linux/unix targeting viruses, i'll give big hug. while there might not out there in wild (my paranoia disagrees), it'd kind of freaking awesome hear scans whatever linux viruses have been documented far.
-free preferred, if know of product isn't free, i'll interested in looking @ it.

installed bitdefender today, , seems decent product. documentation comes along seems pretty good. have experience can share bitdefender? i'm going install 1 or 2 av suites regardless (i know i'm being paranoid, i'm getting rather frustrated haven't found viruses on stuff i've been downloading & scanning avg [on desktop], , avast [on laptop before upgraded karmic]).

i'm looking opinions people have av experience linux. sort of advice can in regard appreciated

" haven't found viruses on stuff'.

perhaps there nothing find ? there many posts concerning ant-virus in forums. quick google search on anti-virus in linux yield wealth of information on subject.
