Thread: basic internet connection w/ router

hi,

newbie exact same problem this old thread, see post has had no replies/resolutions. hope has time , patience walk me through solution.

summarize :

+ running ubuntu 9.10
+ used connected directly modem -- connected using pon command
+ have new wired/wireless router , wish connect computer with wire router

@ point, computer cannot ping router's default address (192.168.0.1). though router on , working wifi router other computer (which using type this)

wise decision start own thread - tacking on end of else's thread 1 way no replies.

in /etc/network/interfaces? if there more 2 lines defining "lo", might try commenting out lines. details on getting done available on request...
(don't forget restart/reboot after making changes)

missing filename after '-o'
