Thread: Compiz Widget Layer in Ubuntu 9.10 not working.

hi guys, first time poster here- i've found lot of answers needn't make post of has solved.
anyway, here's problem:

i've "themed up" ubuntu make similar mac os x. , good, looks fine, , dock works etc.
i've installed screenlets , ccsm, enabling options i'm meant to, when hit f9 layer not show.
screenlets work fine on desktop, when use "treat widget" doesn't disappear desktop, nor make layer show if press f9 again.

i've checked hotkey right- is.

appreciated

1- make sure widget layer enabled (put tick in box on ccsm)
2- in settings, set brightness 50% , hit f9 test if widget layer working. otherwise, widget layer doesn't noticeable until start assigning things layer.
3- assuming screen fades when hit f9 (proving layer working), must "add" widgets/desklets/gadgets/panels , whatever want on layer using ccsm. can add sorts of things filters such class/name/type etc. adding via "treat widget" wont work if you're running ccsm because ccsm requires tell widgets.
4- once you've added widgets , work required can set brightness whatever like.

hope helps

edit - screenlets great - when click "install" go drop down list , click "convert web widget" can add widgets google gatgets , wealth of other screenlets type apps (to fair) lot better , there 1000's of them!

macish "glx-dock" great 9.10 in ubuntu software centre
