Raspberry Pi 3 Keep Crashing after polyfuse reset - Raspberry Pi Forums

about 1 weeks ago accidentally plug raspberry pi 3 12v power supply after 3 seconds smoke came in board , turn off. after 15 mins again plug normal 3a 5v power supply. pi boot , work fine red led not lighting , green led acting weird roasting smell pi (area around micro usb port heating hard). after quick research on internet found there polyfuse in pi , may blow upped , should keep off 2-3 days after 5days (today) turn on pi both green , red leds off cpu , power connecting area heating. test power test points on board. don't know it's normal or not pp1,pp2 , pp7 point give reading around 2.6v. insert new micro sd card 2017-04-10-raspbian-jessie , green led light 3-4 sec , turned off tried connecting pi phone charger 1.5a 5v pi boot 5 mins , crashed. restarted , same results. tried short circuit d5 component no led on , cpu not heating). need rpi work because rpi part of project competitions coming in week after next week. ordered 1 take @ least 10days more deliver , there no buy raspberry pi 3 in local area

first off, pp1 , pp2 right @ input; if they're reading 2.6v power supply isn't able supply current being asked , suffering.
short-circuiting d5, you're shorting across power input. short-circuiting d5 wrong thing - rather, try removing it.

quite possibly when put 12v on the pi, destroyed d5. since then, it's acting low resistance.
there may other damage, including perhaps u14 , u3. removing d5 first thing try.

out of interest, how did connect 12v supply pi? did manage connect micro-usb socket, or 40-pin header?
