bitmap and mimicing stochastic/aquatint screen

i'm trying create image photo-etching don't have use separate aquatint screen in exposures. created 720 ppi randow dot bitmap image, increasing blacks print 'dots' space around them (instead of solid black) when create on inkjet printer, comes out looking 'grainy,' though i'm thinking 720 pretty high output resolution. i'm wondering if should try higher resolution, 1440 or 2880?

i'm outputing epson r2400 inkjet printer this.

best, david.
