Ethernet shield unable to communicate

i have gotten new arduino wiznet hanrun ethernet shield. when plug arduino mega 2560 unable upload program error:

avrdude: stk500v2_getsync(): timeout communicating programmer

i have unpluged shield uploaded dhcpadressprinter , put shield back. got nothing on serial monitor no timeout message blank. cant reach webserver via ethernet cable through hub has no lights on @ lan port , link icon not on power light on shield , mega on have external power arduino. hub has no light on arduino
please need science expo in 2 weeks. :smiley-confuse:

also jumper labeled wp for?

a link shield might help.

have checked w5100 solder bridges? cheaper boards have problem.
